A Week of Country

I know that there hasn't been a post about the studio or recent work... and I will try to get more up as soon as possible.... we've just had so much going on in the last few months I'm not even sure where to begin! Perhaps I'll have to do a little collage sampler as soon as I gather my thoughts in the studio! IN THE MEANTIME.... our week of country was so much fun! two weekends in a row with no shoots was a great break! First, we had a big group of friends and family go to the PBR in Fresno on the 18th.... this is our second year going, and I think we've decided its an annual tradition! If you've never watched Bull Riding... you're missing out! Even for the non-country folk, its a sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of event. Our favorite bull (which is my 3 year old nephew Owen's -and the reason we started going to PBR in the first place) is Reindeer Dippin... he tossed his rider that night in 2.9 seconds! this is Owen.... PBR shirt custom made with "Reindeer Dippin" on the back! This is our little cowboy.... boots and all! Then Ryan and I got the chance to see Garth Brooks in LA for his FIRE relief concert tour. A-Mazing! Now I'm a country girl, country music fan, and all that, but Garth is the fastest selling solo artist in the world... and thats gotta say a little bit about his music... the best part is everyone there knew every song and the place was packed...He sold out all 5 concerts at the Staples center in like an hour and a half! for both weekends I was without a camera but heres a few from my beloved phone... I know theres a ton, but check out all the links... they're more fun than my blog's been in a while! :)

next peek

I have a few series that I build as I go into new cities... alleys, doors, markets... this is one of my favorite alley shots. It was taken in Madrid last summer, just before shooting a wedding in the Azores. Our family went (with Josephine only 4 months!) and had a wonderful time. Spain was so peaceful... we'd love to go back and explore some more!

Jeff

Jeff was one of those rare senior guys who actually liked taking photos (or at least admitting to). We had a great time running around downtown... and he was willing to do anything I asked... including wearing his snowboarding gear in the heat of downtown Visalia (like 90º that afternoon)... what a trooper. at one point we even had some great background music, 'cause this guy rode by on this full size tricycle with a full sound system in the back between the wheels and it was loud! We could still hear him from a block away!! but it made for some great laughs and I got some good smiles from Jeff! Heres a couple from his long shoot... I went a little over with Jeff just cause of the fun we were having... and he got a few extras for putting up with me for so long! :) Thanks Jeff! he's part of the Jazz band at El Diamante... we spent some time at crawdaddys with the sign and painted jazz musicians on the windows... then later in the back alleys He has one of those smiles that make everyone smile... which obviously makes my job easy. his snowboard had these cool designs all over it.... so I played around with it on the wall behind him....

sneak peek

I used to think that I would be a travel photographer.... that was one of my first photo loves, and I still love to travel, I would more often if I could... (but that's not the easiest with two kids...) Anyway, my husband helped me fulfill a little dream of mine by opening a fine art gallery with my photos from our travels. It's really been an honor to see people come in and find works of art that they want to hang in their home! We are currently featured in Café 225 on Main street in Visalia and are having an art reception November 9th at Café 225 starting at 5pm. I want to extend an open invite to anyone who would like to come join us for some wine and hors d'œuvres and hang out. I'll be posting a photo here and there until November 9th for a sneak preview or for those who won't be able to make it that night. Don't forget you can also preview by going to café 225 and enjoying their tasty food too! I hope to see everyone there enjoying a glass of wine...

amy&daniel ok these two were so much fun to watch on thier wedding day. Daniel could not take his eyes off Amy... and he had this fantastic "lovestruck" smile all day & Amy had this bridal glow.... she was gorgeous! We made it through the ceremony but part way through the reception we got stormed out... :( a crazy wind blew in some lightning and rain and, since we were outside, they had to call it quits for the night. we still were able to finish photos and guests got hang out for a little while... so they still called the night a success. Here's a small preview of the day...
