So... Friday is almost here! Hopefully everyone gets a chance to come by and say hello at Café 225. We're looking forward to seeing all of you there drinking a glass of wine and enjoying the night. For those who haven't heard, we're having an art reception at Café 225 on Main street in Visalia. We'll be there this Friday November 9th, from 5-7 pm, for our fine art gallery portion of the studio. This is an open invitation event, so please feel free to come, bring a friend and hang out! To learn more info you can visit the gallery site for contact info... for now... Ciâo!
I have a few series that I build as I go into new cities... alleys, doors, markets... this is one of my favorite alley shots. It was taken in Madrid last summer, just before shooting a wedding in the Azores. Our family went (with Josephine only 4 months!) and had a wonderful time. Spain was so peaceful... we'd love to go back and explore some more!
Jeff was one of those rare senior guys who actually liked taking photos (or at least admitting to). We had a great time running around downtown... and he was willing to do anything I asked... including wearing his snowboarding gear in the heat of downtown Visalia (like 90º that afternoon)... what a trooper. at one point we even had some great background music, 'cause this guy rode by on this full size tricycle with a full sound system in the back between the wheels and it was loud! We could still hear him from a block away!! but it made for some great laughs and I got some good smiles from Jeff! Heres a couple from his long shoot... I went a little over with Jeff just cause of the fun we were having... and he got a few extras for putting up with me for so long! :) Thanks Jeff! he's part of the Jazz band at El Diamante... we spent some time at crawdaddys with the sign and painted jazz musicians on the windows... then later in the back alleys He has one of those smiles that make everyone smile... which obviously makes my job easy. his snowboard had these cool designs all over it.... so I played around with it on the wall behind him....
I used to think that I would be a travel photographer.... that was one of my first photo loves, and I still love to travel, I would more often if I could... (but that's not the easiest with two kids...) Anyway, my husband helped me fulfill a little dream of mine by opening a fine art gallery with my photos from our travels. It's really been an honor to see people come in and find works of art that they want to hang in their home! We are currently featured in Café 225 on Main street in Visalia and are having an art reception November 9th at Café 225 starting at 5pm. I want to extend an open invite to anyone who would like to come join us for some wine and hors d'œuvres and hang out. I'll be posting a photo here and there until November 9th for a sneak preview or for those who won't be able to make it that night. Don't forget you can also preview by going to café 225 and enjoying their tasty food too! I hope to see everyone there enjoying a glass of wine...
amy&daniel ok these two were so much fun to watch on thier wedding day. Daniel could not take his eyes off Amy... and he had this fantastic "lovestruck" smile all day & Amy had this bridal glow.... she was gorgeous! We made it through the ceremony but part way through the reception we got stormed out... :( a crazy wind blew in some lightning and rain and, since we were outside, they had to call it quits for the night. we still were able to finish photos and guests got hang out for a little while... so they still called the night a success. Here's a small preview of the day...
Erin and Andrew are so sweet. They met while in YWAM in Hawaii and have the sweetest relationship... you can tell they just adore each other, and are best friends. Erin was in a wedding I shot earlier this year, so it will be fun to see her as the Bride! Congrats you guys! I'm looking forward to your wedding next year...
I've known Kamrie as "the little sister" from the time I began shooting for the DeGroots... She was in her sister Angies wedding this past January, and I couldn't believe how much she had grown into a beautiful woman I didn't recognize her all grown up! Kamrie, It was fun to see how different you and Ang are! I had a great time getting you alone behind the camera. Have an amazing senior year!
I grew up next to Ben's family... they're amazing, artistic, loving people and we were sad when they moved to the coast. I cannot believe Benny is already a senior!! He was a character growing up and still is! I had a great time laughing with him as we drove through Morro Bay for these. Congrats Ben and good luck this year!
I am just now returning from my SECOND maternity leave in as many years... phew! So as I get back in the swing of things & the hang of blogging I'll let you know what the studio is up to... in the mean time, here's a few of my new little guy I stole during his nap a couple days ago... Evan Andrew Davis
Ok, So as my first post I thought I would explain a little about why I'm FINALLY getting a blog up... it was going to be a waste of my time and I didn't like the idea of "blogging", or so I thought... but the longer I went without one, the more I felt behind the times... so... here goes! I look forward to hearing from so many of you... help me out cause I'm new at this!!
